Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the GyanGram mobile apps, web app and website (the "Service"). It explains what information GyanGram handles, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

Information Collection and Use

Depending on the features you use, GyanGram may process:

• Account information: your name, email address, Firebase user ID and profile photo when supplied by you or your chosen sign-in provider.
• Learning activity: progress, completed cards, bookmarks, likes, quiz and PYQ activity, revision state, preferences and recent learning activity.
• User content: AI tutor questions, generated responses, saved chats and notes when you use those features.
• Purchase status: product, plan, transaction reference, entitlement status and expiry information. GyanGram does not receive your full card or bank details from an app store or payment processor.
• Technical information: app interactions, device and app information, notification token, diagnostics, performance information, crash data and Internet Protocol address.
• Support information: information you include when contacting GyanGram.

GyanGram does not request precise location, contacts, health data, or data for cross-app advertising tracking. We do not sell personal information. Notification permission is optional and can be changed in device settings.

How Information Is Used

We use the information described above for the following purposes:

• Account and sign-in: create and authenticate your account, keep your session secure, and sync data across devices when you sign in.
• Learning experience: save and restore your progress, bookmarks, quiz and PYQ activity, revision state, and study preferences.
• Personalisation: tailor study recommendations and optional AI tutoring context based on your learning activity when you enable those features.
• AI features: process prompts and context needed to generate tutor responses and store saved chats and notes when you choose to save them.
• Purchases: verify entitlement status and expiry for optional paid features on supported platforms.
• Notifications: send reminders and alerts you have requested, subject to your device notification settings.
• Security and reliability: protect the Service, detect abuse or fraud, diagnose failures, and measure feature performance.
• Support: respond to questions, content reports, and account or privacy requests you send to us.
• Legal compliance: meet applicable legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations.

We do not use your information for cross-app advertising tracking or to sell personal information.

Third-Party Access

GyanGram uses service providers to operate the Service. They process information under their own terms and privacy commitments and only for the relevant feature. These include:

• Google Firebase for authentication, database, storage, functions, analytics, crash reporting, app attestation, messaging and AI services.
• Google for Google Sign-In, Google Play services and Gemini-powered features.
• Apple for Sign in with Apple and App Store services.
• Razorpay for supported web payments.

AI tutor prompts and the context required to answer them are sent through Firebase AI services to generate a response. Signed-in users may save chats and notes to their GyanGram account. Do not submit sensitive personal information in an AI prompt.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect users or the Service, investigate abuse or fraud, or complete a corporate transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.

Opt-Out Rights

You may use GyanGram as a guest for features that do not require synchronisation. You can decline notifications, sign out, export account data, or initiate account deletion from Profile > Data & Privacy. Uninstalling the app stops future device collection but does not by itself delete an existing account.

Data Retention Policy

Account data is retained while your account is active. An in-app deletion request disables the account and schedules associated user records for permanent deletion after a 14-day grace period. Limited transaction, security or legal records may be retained when required by law. Aggregated or de-identified analytics may remain. See Account Deletion for details.

Children

GyanGram is intended for UPSC examination preparation and is not directed to children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 supplied personal information, we will delete it. A parent or guardian can contact us using the details below.

Security

GyanGram uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including authenticated access, Firebase security rules and encrypted network transport. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Changes

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by updating this page with the new privacy policy. You are advised to consult this page regularly, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.

Your Consent

Where consent is the appropriate legal basis, you may withdraw it through the relevant device setting or by contacting us. Other processing may be necessary to provide the Service, secure it, fulfil a contract, or comply with law.
