Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North-East (PM-DevINE): Infrastructure Funding, Social Development and Bamboo Clusters

- The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) reviewed the execution of projects sanctioned under the PM-DevINE Scheme with an approved financial outlay of ₹6,600 crore.
- The scheme provides 100% Central funding for high-impact infrastructure and social development projects (bamboo value chains, pediatric healthcare centers, optical fiber connectivity), filling developmental gaps without duplicating existing Central Ministry schemes.
- The North Eastern Council (NEC) prioritized establishing commercial processing clusters for high-value organic agro-horticultural produce (Lakadong turmeric, bird's eye chilli, King Chilli).
STATIC FOUNDATION
- PM-DevINE (Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North-East Region): Central Sector Scheme launched in Union Budget 2022–23; 100% centrally funded and implemented by the Ministry of DoNER through the North Eastern Council (NEC).
- Objectives of PM-DevINE: Fund infrastructure convergently in the spirit of PM Gati Shakti, support social development projects based on felt needs of NER, enable livelihood activities for youth and women, and fill gaps across various sectors.
- North Eastern Council (NEC): Statutory advisory body constituted under the NEC Act, 1971, for the socio-economic development of the 8 North-Eastern States (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim).
